How does automatic fire suppression work?

An automatic fire suppression system is designed to detect and fight fire before it spreads. Fire detection takes place via pneumatic linear detection or electrical detectors that run through the protected area and react at temperatures of around 180 degrees.

The activation process in case of fire

01

Automatic fire detection 24/7

The detection tube constantly monitors the temperature in the electrical panel or the protected room. In case of abnormal heat buildup, the system is activated automatically.

02

Instant suppression

When fire detection is triggered, the tube ruptures and activates a fast-flow valve. The extinguishing agent is released immediately.

03

Total fire suppression

The released extinguishing agent absorbs heat and effectively interrupts the combustion process. The fire is extinguished before it can spread to other parts of the installation.

04

No cleanup afterwards

When clean agent extinguishing agents are used, no residue is left behind. The electrical panel stays dry, and operations can resume quickly.

Fire protection of electrical panels – local (object) fire suppression

Fires in electrical panels are one of the most common causes of electrical fires in commercial buildings, according to the Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology. A fire in electrical installations can occur suddenly due to overload, short circuit or defective components. That is why fire protection of electrical panels is essential to protect your business. In the event of a fire in an electrical panel, the consequences can be extensive: production stoppages, damaged equipment and, in the worst case, personal injury. With local (object) fire suppression, you minimize the risk and ensure continuity in your operations.

Why choose local fire suppression for electrical panels?

  • Fast response

The fire is detected and extinguished before it spreads

  • Minimal damage

Only the affected components are impacted

  • Minimal downtime

The system protects without affecting day-to-day operations

  • Object protection

Protects the specific installation rather than the entire building

Automatic fire suppression for electrical panels

Our Reacton system is specifically designed for fire suppression in electrical panels. The system is compact, self-contained and requires no external power supply. This means the protection is active 24/7 – even during power outages. The system is ideal for:

Fire suppression for server rooms and data centers

IT infrastructure is the backbone of many modern businesses. Fire suppression for electrical cabinets in server rooms and data centers requires special attention, as conventional extinguishing agents such as water can cause as much damage as the fire itself.

Fire prevention in IT environments

In addition to automatic fire suppression, we recommend a holistic approach to fire prevention:

  • Regular inspection of cables and installations

  • Monitoring of temperature and humidity

  • Early fire detection with sensitive sensors

  • Integrated alarm systems with beacon sounder for rapid warning

Fire protection without water damage

For fire suppression in server rooms, clean agent fire suppression is used – gas-based extinguishing agents that extinguish the fire without leaving residue or damaging the electrical cabinets. This is essential for:

  • Server rooms

  • Data centers

  • Telecom installations

A fire suppression system for server rooms must react quickly and effectively. Our automatic fire suppression system is designed precisely for these environments, where even a few seconds of fire can lead to massive losses due to downtime.

Fire suppression for machines and production equipment

CNC machines and machining equipment

Fire suppression for CNC machines is critical, as these often work with oil, coolant and metals that can ignite. A local fire suppression system mounted directly in the machine ensures instant suppression.

Generators and energy systems

Fire suppression for generators protects against fire caused by electrical faults. This is particularly relevant for:

  • Emergency generators

  • Fire suppression for wind turbines (nacelles and transformers)

  • Fire suppression for BESS (battery energy storage systems)

UPS systems

Fire suppression for UPS systems is essential, as these contain batteries that can cause thermal runaway and fire in the event of a fault. An automatic system provides round-the-clock protection.

  • Compressors

  • Transformers

Extinguishing agents – Clean Agent technology

The choice of extinguishing agent is crucial for effective firefighting without damaging the equipment you are trying to protect. We work with several types of clean agent extinguishing agents as an alternative to Inergen gas:

FM-200

FM-200 is one of the most widely used extinguishing agents for fire protection of electronics. It extinguishes fire quickly by interrupting the chemical reaction in the combustion process. FM-200 leaves no residue and is safe for electronic equipment. Benefits of FM-200:

  • Fast suppression (under 10 seconds)

  • No residue after activation

  • Safe for people at normal concentrations

  • Ideal for server rooms and electrical panels

Reacton 1230

Reacton 1230 is an environmentally friendly extinguishing agent with a very low global warming potential. It is ideal for companies with a focus on sustainability. Benefits of Reacton 1230:

  • Environmentally friendly alternative

  • No ozone impact

  • Evaporates quickly without residue

  • Approved for use in occupied areas

Complements your existing fire system

An important point: Our automatic fire suppression system is designed to complement – not replace – your existing ABA system (automatic fire alarm system) or ARS system.

How the systems work together

  • The ABA system monitors the entire building and raises the alarm when smoke develops

  • The Reacton system protects the electrical panels locally and extinguishes the fire at the source

Integration with existing systems

Our suppression system can be integrated with:

  • Existing ABA systems

  • Building automation (BMS)

  • Monitoring systems

In addition, you can also choose to include a beacon sounder alarm in your Reacton system.

When activated, the system can send a signal to your central fire system so that all relevant parties are alerted immediately.

Service and maintenance of fire suppression systems

What does service of fire suppression systems include?

  • Visual inspection for changes that could tamper with or reduce the system's effectiveness

  • The ball valve in the cylinder system and release mechanisms

  • Pressure gauges on cylinder and EOL

  • Detection tubes and sensors

  • Extinguishing agent containers (weight and pressure)

  • Electrical connections

  • Alarms and lamps

A fire suppression system is only effective if it is properly maintained. We offer complete service of fire suppression systems to ensure that your system is always ready.

Benefits of a Reacton fire suppression system

No human intervention required

The system is fully automatic. It detects fire and activates suppression without the need for manual action. This is critical, as fires also occur outside working hours.

Self-contained system

The Reacton system is a self-contained fire suppression system that does not depend on the building's power supply or other systems. It operates independently 24/7.

No electricity required

Since the system does not require an external power supply, it is active even during power outages – precisely when the risk of fire in electrical installations can be greatest.

Minimal downtime

By stopping the fire at the source before it spreads, damage and downtime are minimized. After activation, there is no cleanup – operations can resume quickly.

Zero clean-up

Clean agent extinguishing agents leave no residue. No foam, no powder, no water damage. Your electrical panel stays dry and functional.

Safe and non-toxic

The extinguishing agents used are non-toxic and safe for people. You can use them with confidence in occupied areas.
