Electrical panel testing from SystemTeknik

Electrical panel testing from SystemTeknik is a thorough, documented check of your electrical panel's components, in which our certified service technicians measure, load and verify that breakers, connections and fuses work as they should. We test components up to 6,300 A – regardless of brand – and deliver a clear report with specific recommendations for operation, maintenance and any replacement.

What does panel testing involve?

Panel testing is a systematic check of the active and passive components in your electrical panel. When we test, we do not just carry out a visual and functional review – we go a step further and verify the actual condition of the components under load and over time.

Panel testing can be carried out on all types of panels – control panels, distribution panels, UL panels and custom panels – including older installations from other manufacturers.

Why is panel testing important?

An electrical panel that is not tested regularly is one of the most overlooked risk factors in an installation. Faults develop slowly and invisibly: a loose connection increases the contact resistance, the resistance generates heat, and the heat makes the connection even worse – until the component suddenly causes a breakdown, often at the most critical moment.

The consequences of an untested installation can include

  • Unplanned downtime in production, data centers or infrastructure, where every hour is costly
  • Risk of fire and personal injury from thermal overload of components
  • Costly emergency replacement instead of planned, cost-effective component replacement
  • Long lead times on discontinued components if no advance notice of the phase-out has been given

Regular testing and visits from a technician extend the lifetime of both panel and breakers and prevent unexpected breakdowns. For business-critical environments such as data centers and local infrastructure, the difference between planned maintenance and an acute breakdown is often decisive.

How panel testing works

Our service technicians follow a fixed, transparent process, so you know exactly what happens – from first contact to finished report.

  1. Agreement and preparation

We clarify the scope, panel type and operating conditions so the test can be planned with as little disruption as possible.

  2. On-site test

The technician tests components on site, including circuit breakers up to 6,300 A, terminal connections and thermal conditions.

  3. Assessment

We identify weaknesses and components that are approaching the end of their service life or are being discontinued.

  4. Report and recommendations

You receive a clear report with results and a prioritized plan for maintenance and replacement.

  5. Follow-up

If needed, we replace components without waiting time or link the test to a planned service agreement.

  6. Panel cleaning

The panel is cleaned as part of the testing.

The entire process can be integrated into planned service and maintenance, so regular visits prevent breakdowns rather than repairing them.

What is included in panel testing?

When SystemTeknik tests your panels, you get more than just a measurement. We deliver an overall assessment of the condition of your installation and specific recommendations, so you can make decisions on a factual basis.

If you choose a service agreement, we can replace components without waiting time through our partnerships and significantly extend the lifetime of your panels. Read more about panel upgrades and replacements.

Standards and certifications

Panel testing from SystemTeknik is carried out by certified technicians and is based on the same standards that underpin our panel production. This ensures that the test does not just identify faults, but also assesses the panel against recognized safety and quality requirements.

With ISO 9001 and documented test reports, you get a traceable and transparent assessment of your panels. See more about our certifications.

  • UL 508A – the standard for industrial control panels, relevant for control panels for the US and Canadian markets.
  • UL 891 – the safety standard for switchboards and distribution equipment for North America.
  • ISO 9001 – quality management that ensures consistency and documentation in our service work.
  • ISO 14001 – environmental management that controls and improves our environmental impact.

What size of components can SystemTeknik test?

We test components up to 6,300 A, including circuit breakers – regardless of brand. This covers control panels, distribution panels, UL panels and custom panels.

Can you test panels from other manufacturers and older installations?

Yes. We have extensive experience with testing, replacement and repair of old panels and breakers from other manufacturers, and we test components regardless of brand.

What do I receive after panel testing?

You receive a clear report with test results and specific recommendations, including which components have weaknesses and should be replaced, as well as advance notice of components that are being discontinued.

What is the difference between panel testing and a panel inspection?

A panel inspection is a broader review of the panel, while panel testing verifies the actual condition of the components – e.g. testing of breakers and connections. The test is often carried out as part of an inspection or a planned service agreement.

Can you replace defective components right away?

Through our partnerships, we can in many cases replace components without waiting time. If you enter into a planned service agreement, we also give you advance notice when components are discontinued.
